Inland Empire AC Installation

Permit-Ready AC Installation Across The Inland Empire

A new AC install is the most important hour of that system's 15-year life. Get the load calc wrong, skip the deep vacuum, sloppy-braze a joint, miss the commissioning paperwork — and the system you just paid $10,000+ for is on track to fail in seven years instead of fifteen. Tech On Call installs new central AC, mini-splits, heat pumps, and package units across Riverside and San Bernardino County the way the manufacturer specifies: Manual J load calculation (never "the old one was a 3-ton, so we'll match it"), brazed copper line sets with nitrogen purge, evacuated to 500 microns with a real micron gauge, pressure-tested, then charged to manufacturer-spec subcooling.

Permits are part of the price. California Title 24 requires a permit for any new AC installation or full replacement, and HERS testing is required for many configurations in Riverside and San Bernardino County. We pull the permit, coordinate the HERS rater where needed, and hand you the closed-permit certificate at the end — never a "we'll skip the permit to save you money" pitch. Skipping permits creates real problems when you sell the house, and California has been actively enforcing for years.

Every install includes a smart thermostat, full startup commissioning, and warranty registration with the manufacturer (most ship a 10-year parts warranty when registered within 60 days — we handle the paperwork). Pair the new install with our annual maintenance plan to keep the warranty alive, or see AC replacement if you're swapping an existing system.

Why The Install Matters

The Install Is The System's Life

Diagnose · Repair · Restore
01

Wrong Size = Short Life

Oversized AC short-cycles and dies early. We Manual J every install — never guess by square footage.

02

Bad Braze = Leak in 2 Years

Sloppy soldering shows up later as low refrigerant. We braze with nitrogen purge, every joint.

03

No Vacuum = Acid in Compressor

Skipping the deep vacuum lets moisture cook the compressor. We pull 500 microns and pressure-test before charging.

04

No Commissioning = No Warranty

Manufacturers void warranty if startup isn't documented. We commission every install and register the warranty.

05

No Permit = Resale Headache

California enforces Title 24. Skipped permits show up at resale or insurance time. We pull every permit — included in the price.

06

Wrong Duct Sizing

A new high-SEER system on undersized ducts performs like an old low-SEER one. We measure static pressure and fix duct restrictions before equipment arrives.

07

Mismatched Indoor & Outdoor

Replacing only the condenser without a matched coil ruins efficiency and voids warranty. We size the full system, every time.

08

Wrong Equipment For The Climate

Coachella Valley and High Desert need different equipment than Riverside or Corona. We spec for the actual heat load, not a catalog default.

What We Install

Every System We Install

01

Central Split Systems

Traditional condenser + air handler installs — the workhorse of Inland Empire residential cooling.

02

Ductless Mini-Splits

Single-zone for additions and ADUs, multi-zone for whole-home retrofits without ductwork.

03

Heat Pumps

All-electric installs that cool in summer and heat in winter — California rebate eligible.

04

Package Units

Rooftop or ground-mount package unit installs with new curb adapter when needed.

05

New Construction

Working with your builder or GC on new-build HVAC — load calcs, ductwork, and equipment install.

06

ADUs & Additions

Mini-split or extended-duct designs for room additions, garage conversions, and ADUs.

Installation Process

How A Right Install Works

  1. 01

    In-Home Design & Load Calc

We measure the home, run a Manual J load calculation, evaluate the existing ductwork and static pressure, and check electrical capacity. The tonnage on the quote is the tonnage your house actually needs — not a guess from the old nameplate.

  2. 02

    Equipment Match & Quote

Good/better/best side-by-side: standard single-stage, two-stage, and variable-speed inverter. We'll match every brand to your load, identify rebate eligibility (SCE, SoCalGas, federal IRA), and present financing options.

  3. 03

    Permit & HERS Coordination

We pull the California Title 24 permit and coordinate the HERS rater when required by your jurisdiction. The closed permit becomes part of your home's record.

  4. 04

    Old Equipment Removal

If we're replacing, we recover the old refrigerant per EPA regs, haul the old equipment, and dispose properly. The pad gets cleaned or replaced; the platform gets level-checked.

  5. 05

Brazed Line Set + Deep Vacuum

Every refrigerant joint brazed under nitrogen purge to prevent internal scaling. New filter-drier installed. System pulled to 500 microns and held — moisture in the system is what kills compressors.

  6. 06

    Pressure Test & Charge

Pressure-tested to manufacturer spec, then charged by weight or by subcooling depending on metering device. We verify superheat/subcooling against ambient — not 'looks about right.'

  7. 07

    Startup, Commissioning, & Warranty

Smart thermostat installed and programmed. Startup commissioned with measured supply temp, return temp, static pressure, and amp draw documented. Warranty registered with manufacturer.

Installation FAQ

Installation Questions

01

How long does an AC install take?

Most residential split systems are done in one day. Mini-split multi-zone and heat pump conversions run 1–2 days.

02

How much does a new AC cost installed?

Residential split-system installs run $7,500–$14,000 installed depending on tonnage and SEER2. Variable-speed inverter systems run $12,000–$18,000+. Mini-splits and heat pumps quoted separately.

03

Do you pull permits?

Yes. California Title 24 requires a permit for AC installation. We handle permits and HERS testing — never extra cost.

04

How is AC size calculated? Why does it matter?

We run a Manual J load calculation that accounts for square footage, insulation, window orientation, ceiling height, and local climate. Oversized AC short-cycles and shortens compressor life; undersized AC runs constantly without cooling. Right-sized is the most important number on the quote.

05

What SEER2 rating do you install?

We install SEER2-compliant systems from 14.3 SEER2 (regional minimum) up to 22+ SEER2 variable-speed inverter systems. Higher SEER2 pays back faster in desert and High Desert climates that run AC more hours per year.

06

Is a smart thermostat included?

Yes — every full-system install includes a smart thermostat. Larger systems can add zoning controls. Pair with our maintenance plan to protect the warranty.

07

What brands do you install?

Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York, Rheem, Mitsubishi, and Daikin — we'll quote any major brand or recommend the best match for the application.

08

Are there rebates available?

Yes — SCE and SoCalGas offer rebates on qualifying high-efficiency installs, and the federal IRA Section 25C tax credit applies to heat pumps. We provide all paperwork.

09

What cities in the Inland Empire do you serve?

Every city in Riverside and San Bernardino County — Riverside, San Bernardino, Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Corona, Moreno Valley, Temecula, Murrieta, Redlands, Hesperia, Victorville, and the Coachella Valley. See the full service-area list at the bottom of this page.

10

Do you warranty your work?

Every repair carries a workmanship warranty, and we register manufacturer warranties on every install. Most major equipment ships with a 10-year parts warranty when registered within 60 days — we handle that paperwork for you.

11

Do you offer financing?

Yes — financing is available on qualifying installs and replacements. We'll walk through monthly payment options before you commit to anything.
