Honest Air Duct Cleaning

The duct-cleaning industry has a deserved bad reputation. The $69 ad in the mailer is bait — the truck shows up, the tech runs a shop vac at one register, and the upsell starts. Tech On Call doesn't do that. We borescope the duct interior before quoting, give you a flat rate based on register count and condition, and re-borescope after so you actually see the difference. If your ducts don't need cleaning, we'll tell you and recommend a deeper MERV-13 media filter instead.

Duct cleaning is genuinely worth it after a remodel that put drywall dust into the system, after rodent activity (very common in older IE attics), when occupants have asthma or allergies and the registers are visibly dirty, and for systems with a known historical mold or smoke event. It's typically not worth it as a routine annual service on a tight, well-filtered system — keep the filter current and re-inspect every 3–5 years.

Our cleaning process: full home walkthrough and borescope, all returns and supplies covered, negative-air HEPA vacuum hooked at the main trunk, rotating-brush agitation through every branch, register and grille cleaned individually, optional EPA-registered sanitizer on request. Dryer vent cleaning is a popular add-on — lint-clogged dryer vents are a top cause of household fires. See related: ductwork repair, indoor air quality.

Recent Remodel

Drywall, sanding, or demo dust ended up in your supply system.

Visible Dust At Registers

Black streaks around supply registers — confirmed in borescope.

04

Allergies & Asthma

Occupants with respiratory issues benefit from periodic cleaning.

05

Past Mold Or Smoke Event

Flood, fire, or HVAC mold — full clean plus sanitizer.

Process

How A Real Cleaning Runs

  1. 01

    Call & Schedule

A real dispatcher answers — no phone tree. Same-day or next-morning ETA confirmed, and we text the tech's name and photo before arrival.

  2. 02

    Inspection & Test

Flat-rate diagnostic. Tech measures static pressure, airflow (CFM), filter restriction, hood capture, and IAQ baseline — then explains findings in plain English.

  3. 03

    Written Scope & Quote

You see the work and the price before anything starts. Diagnostic fee credits toward the repair when you proceed.

  4. 04

    Install Or Repair

Most repairs (boots, dampers, fans, motors, filters) are completed same-visit. Larger ductwork or hood jobs scheduled within 48–72 hours.

  5. 05

    Verify & Document

We retest static, CFM, and IAQ deltas and document everything — parts used, before/after numbers, warranty terms.

Duct Cleaning FAQ

Duct Cleaning Questions

01

How much does air duct cleaning cost?

$350–$750 for whole-home depending on register count, attic access, and condition. Borescope inspection comes before quoting.

02

How often should I clean my air ducts?

Most homes don't need annual cleaning. Clean after a remodel, after rodent activity, when occupants have asthma or allergies, or when the duct interior is visibly fouled. Otherwise every 3–5 years.

03

Will duct cleaning lower my energy bill?

Only marginally — and only if dust was actually restricting airflow at registers. The bigger lever for energy bills is duct sealing and properly sized return air.

04

Do you sanitize after cleaning?

Optional — we use EPA-registered antimicrobial fog when there's been mold, smoke, or rodent activity. We don't push it on otherwise clean systems.

05

Do you clean dryer vents?

Yes — common add-on. Lint-clogged dryer vents cause thousands of household fires a year.

06

Why is the $69 ad so much cheaper than your quote?

Because the $69 ad is a bait price for one register with a shop vac. The upsell starts when the tech arrives. We borescope and quote flat-rate up front.

07

Is duct cleaning actually worth it?

It's worth it when the ducts are visibly dirty, after a remodel that put drywall dust into the system, after rodent activity, or for occupants with asthma/allergies. Routine "every spring" cleaning on an otherwise tight, well-filtered system rarely moves the needle. We'll borescope before quoting so you see the actual duct interior before paying. See duct cleaning.

08

What cities do you serve for ductwork and ventilation?

Every city in Riverside and San Bernardino County — Riverside, San Bernardino, Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Corona, Moreno Valley, Temecula, Murrieta, Redlands, Hesperia, Victorville, and the Coachella Valley. High Desert dust loads drive a lot of our duct-cleaning and filter calls; coastal-IE humidity drives IAQ work.

09

Do you warranty ductwork and ventilation work?

Every ductwork install carries a workmanship warranty. Equipment — IAQ purifiers, dehumidifiers, exhaust fans, hoods — is registered with the manufacturer and most ship a 5–10 year parts warranty when registered within 60 days. We handle the paperwork.

10

What's the best whole-home indoor air quality upgrade?

For most Inland Empire homes the highest-ROI upgrade is a deep MERV-13 media filter cabinet plus a UV-C coil light. Add a whole-home dehumidifier in the coastal-IE belt or a fresh-air ERV for tight new construction. See indoor air quality.
